Ahi Poke Bowl
Poke Bowl – Ahi Poke with Fresh Fish & Toppings
Authentic Hawaiian poke bowl with marinated fish, rice, and crisp toppings – perfect for 3 servings.
Ingredients:
Main Ingredients
- 350 g yellowfin tuna or salmon (sushi grade; 400 g if using salmon with skin)
- 170 g rice (e.g., sushi, long grain, or brown rice)
- ½ avocado, diced
- 1–2 scallions, sliced into rings
- 2 shallots, sliced into rings
- 4 garlic cloves, sliced
- Daikon cress or other sprouts
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds (white and/or black)
Spicy Mayo Marinade (for fish)
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise (approx. 30 g)
- 1½ tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
- ⅛ tsp fine salt
Soy Sauce Marinade (alternative)
- 3 tbsp Japanese soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp finely sliced scallion rings
Preparation:
- 1. Cook the rice, let it cool, and set aside.
- 2. Cut the fish into approx. 1.5 cm cubes (optional: freeze for 30 min for easier slicing).
- 3. For spicy mayo: mix mayonnaise, sriracha, and salt. For soy marinade: combine soy sauce, sesame oil, and scallions.
- 4. Add the fish to your chosen marinade, mix well, and refrigerate covered (up to 1 day).
- 5. Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan. Fry shallots and garlic in oil until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
- 6. Dice the avocado, slice scallions into rings.
- 7. Divide the rice into 3 bowls. Top with marinated fish and avocado.
- 8. Garnish with sesame seeds, fried shallots, garlic, and sprouts.
